Hi! My name is Jahnvi, and I am a composer and jazz clarinetist currently studying Jazz Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music.
I have played clarinet professionally since high school, leading my own jazz combos all around the Seattle area, and also in Boston. I have played in orchestras, big bands, musical pits, wind ensembles, and at numerous jazz festivals. In 2024, Earshot Jazz honored me as the Northwest Emerging Jazz Artist of the Year and I also received the prestigious Presser Scholar Award from the Presser Foundation. I am the youngest musician ever to be commissioned by the Seattle's Earshot Jazz to create a new original composition for their 2023 Festival. Earlier awards include the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, as well as outstanding soloist and outstanding musician awards at festivals.
I am passionate about music & education. I love to help elementary, middle, and high schoolers develop their musicianship and fill any music instruction gap that might exist for your kids right now :).
I have years of experience teaching kids and I am currently accepting students for in-person and virtual lessons!
I grew up in Bellevue, WA and studied at Open Windows School, Somerset Elementary, Spiritridge Elementary, Odle Middle School, Newport High School, and Bellevue College Running Start. I also attended summer programs at the Berklee School of Music before joining the Jazz Performance program at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
